What do we do?
Many people have wandered into our office and asked us about our set up. Now that we have been running for a few weeks and put some sales on the board, what is it that we do exactly?
Well, we have created an environment more akin to a tech start up than a traditional real estate office. We have created open collaborative spaces and provided a technological framework for agents to be able to take their work off site. We have dispensed with cubicles and reception areas and we have instead replaced those areas with open discussion areas and booths for friendly and comfortable interaction with our customers, clients and visitors.
On the tech side we have, with some major obstacles and problems, successfully created a working space that is now much bigger than the physical walls of the office. We have made the entire Eastern Suburbs our workspace. It is now just a matter of a couple mouse clicks on a Mac Book and we have access to everything an office environment provides. We can access emails, documents, advertising, photos, floor plans, marketing schedules and all the others materials critical to making an agent functional, informative and effective.
As an example I was watching my eldest daughter at roller skating lessons in Bayswater and I used the time to upload an new property to the net. I played around with the text, that I pulled from the server, I cropped photos and I made the necessary changes to the listing and then uploaded it straight to the net. This is an example of an activity that is generally only completed in an office. Well not any more.
Embracing new technology means we can now do two important things. We can free up our agents and break the shackles to the office and secondly we can free up the office space to be a central meeting place, a location where clients and agents can meet freely and discuss their real estate needs in a cafe style environment offering a relaxed and non threatening atmosphere. We also have great coffee, we are in Melbourne after all.
So what do we do? We use complex technology to simplify and humanise the real estate experience for all concerned. After all, isn’t the idea of technology to make our lives easier and more fulfilling?
